The average heat pump can only keep up when temperatures are above 25°F. Below 25°F emergency heat kicks in! This will do a better job at keeping your house the temperature you have set, but it also is much more expensive to run. Space heaters can also add $1-2 PER DAY for each heater running! OUCH!

Mypoa shared Harrisonburg Electric Commission's post.
We would like to thank everyone for their efforts yesterday (7/25/16) in helping us to reduce the amount of power purchased during the period of highest demand for electricity thus far this year, which occurred between the hours of 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. While at this point it is hard to quantify the amount of reduction that we achieved from our customers, it was apparent that overall, many of you were helping us to keep our demand for energy as low as possible. We appreciate your interest and participation in this worthwhile exercise and we hope that we can count on you in the future, should the need arise, to assist us with future conservation requests. *Reminder* HEC would like you to help conserve energy between 3 & 6. Avoid the use of large appliances during this time. Turn your thermostat up a few degrees & turn off lights not in use. Any effort in conservation is greatly appreciated as we continue to seek ways to help keep our wholesale power costs as low as possible. 7 months 2 days ago.
The Harrisonburg Electric Commission would like to ask for your help in holding down power costs through ENERGY CONSERVATION on Monday afternoon 7/25 between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. If possible, please avoid the use of large kitchen appliances and clothes washing or drying during this time. It would also be helpful to turn your thermostat up a few degrees and make sure any lighting not in use is turned off. Any effort in conservation during Monday afternoon would be greatly appreciated as we continue to seek ways to help keep our wholesale power costs as low as possible. 7 months 2 days ago.

Mypoa shared Harrisonburg, VA - Government's post.
Public Works continues making progress along Reservoir Street as part of the roadway improvement project.
This project will widen Reservoir Street, from University Boulevard south to the city limits, to four lanes with a center median and turning lanes. Bike lanes and sidewalks will also be constructed on each side of the roadway.
The storm sewer, water lines, and sanitary sewer lines are continuing to be installed near the intersection of Reservoir Street and University Boulevard. A temporary entrance into Costco, from Reservoir Street, was installed to allow for vehicular traffic. The other entrance off Reservoir Street is temporarily closed while it is being excavated to remove the existing retaining wall.
A new retaining wall will be installed to accommodate the widening of the road. Motorists should use caution and be aware of the change in traffic patterns within the Costco parking lot. Delivery trucks should continue to use the University Boulevard or Neff Avenue entrances into the store.
Concrete barriers have been placed along Reservoir Street, between Neff Avenue and University Boulevard, to allow for the installation of stormwater improvements and retaining walls. Road widening on the west side of Reservoir Street, between Neff Avenue and Ridgeville Lane, has begun.
Work will soon be conducted in the area of Woodland Drive where a water main is being relocated and a storm sewer line is being installed underneath the roadway.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling in this area due to slight changes in the traffic pattern, the presence of construction workers, and construction equipment moving in and along the road.
Initial plans for this project began in 2006 and the construction is expected to be completed in December 2017. Updates to the construction project and additional information can be found at www.HarrisonburgVA.gov/reservoir-street. Harrisonburg, VA - Government9 months 1 week ago.
